My galleries are implemented with “piwigo”, which allows you to step through the photos, with or without slideshow, rate and comment the photos.
If you register with your e-mail adress, you´ll be able to mark photos as favorites (and comment with your username).
In that way, if you want to reach out to me for editing photos or higher resolution, you don´t need to write down the photo numbers, but just copy and paste the whole favorite list.
